Huskers Primed for Big Junior Day Weekend

Huskers, Junior Day

Scott Frost and staff set to host a large group of junior day visitors

With spring football underway, the new Husker coaching staff has all the pieces in place for their first junior day for prospective student-athletes. In recruiting, relationships are one of the most important things a coach and player need to establish and junior days are a terrific way for all of those involved to get to know one another.

Unlike an official visit, players and their families are responsible for coordinating the travel and the expenses during a junior day. While that poses a small challenge for some families, the city of Lincoln is set up incredibly well to host visitors and is affordable compared to other places.

With Memorial Stadium’s location near downtown Lincoln its incredibly easy for recruits and their families to visit the stadium, find quality dining, tour the campus, and they have plenty of activities to keep them busy while visiting.

A junior day is different from camps as there won’t be any competition going on while athletes are in town.  Those visits are saved for football camps that will take place starting on June 2nd.

During a junior day, prospective players and their families show up, tour Nebraska’s facilities, meet with the academic staff, meet with players/coaches, and mingle with the community. Think of it as an introduction to Nebraska and its football program.

There will be a wide range of athlete’s in town this weekend ranging from 4-star defensive ends all the way to your walk-on candidates who may not have a scholarship offer from the Big Red.

Here’s a breakdown of who you can expect to visit Lincoln this weekend for the first junior day under head coach Scott Frost:
