Willie Hampton transferring from Nebraska
Nebraska’s linebacking corps lost a future contributor in Willie Hampton today as he announced that coach Frost had granted him a release.
As a freshman, Wille Hampton’s impact at Nebraska was tough to measure as he didn’t play and redshirted last season. With a 6’1 225lb frame and legitimate 4.5s 40-yard dash, Hampton had all the physical tools to play at a high level but hadn’t yet broken through the playing time barrier with a lot of talented seniority ahead of him on the roster.
Another big factor limiting his playing time was the fact that Hampton was learning his second defensive scheme in 16 months with the arrival of coach Frost and defensive coordinator Erik Chinander.
Hampton hasn’t announced where he intends to transfer to but we wish him all the best wherever he lands.
