Northern Illinois Vs. Nebraska

Time: 11:00 a.m. CST
Location: Memorial Stadium – Lincoln, Neb.
Watch: FS1

The Northern Illinois Huskies invade Memorial Stadium for the first time since 1990 following a 5-7 season that saw injury at the quarterback position and a loss to Western Illinois.

On offense, they return five starters including three offensive linemen with a combined 46 starts. Running back Jordan Huff (703 yards, 5 TDs in 2016) should provide the Blackshirts some good practice when it comes to stuffing a ground attack as he’s one of the better backs you’ll find in the Mid-American Conference. The Husker secondary might have quite a bit of fun considering the among of shuffling that’s had to go on under center at NIU since the Jordan Lynch days.

NIU returns seven defensive starters including senior defensive back Shawun Lurry who tallied 38 tackles (26 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss and three interceptions last season. If there’s one spot on defense that the Huskies can be proud of, it’s their secondary. While the Blackshirts work on Huff and NIU’s rushing attack, look for Nebraska to get their own ground game going. A few long bombs once the defensive backs start to cheat might be something to look out for.
