Now things start getting interesting.
Nebraska will break out the alternate uniforms for their battle with the Badgers in a game that should dictate the direction of the Big Ten West division. The Huskers have bested Wisconsin only once out of six occasions during their stay as a member of the Big Ten conference and no doubt the 23-17 overtime loss that shattered the Big Red’s fragile undefeated streak still stings.
Alex Hornibook returns to command an offense that features Pittsburgh running back transfer Chris James, wide receiver Jazz Peavy (635 yards and 5 TDs in 2016) along with the always annoying Troy Fumagalli (580 yards and 2 TDs in 2016) at tight end. The Badgers may have lost Ryan Ramczyk to the NFL, but there will be no lull in production from an offensive line that has a combined 90 career starts.
As if Nebraska and Wisconsin didn’t look enough alike, both teams now feature the 3-4 defense and, much like their offensive lines, the Badgers usually field a physical unit. Linebacker Jack Cichy was meant to lead the charge, but he tore an ACL in fall camp which ended his season before it even began. Keep an eye out for TJ Edwards at one of the outside spots. Safety D’Cota Dixon (4 interceptions in 2016) helps solidify the secondary while defensive end Conor Sheehy will work the defensive front.
